seeds of the season

I know this one isn't in focus the way i'd like.. but I love some of the depth in these pods

I seriously was pondering what type of person would have done this. I thought maybe it could have been the owner who had given up hope and was lashing out with rage. Or some little bratty kid that fuckin hates cats.

Aren't these guys weird? I believe it's either a scottish or german thistle.

I know this is an overwhelming amount of photos. I was out taking photos of different autumn type plants before it is no longer autumn. I like to paint said subjects in the winter but google doesn't really give very many images of these types of plants.
Along with these photos, I have millions of non arty ones just waiting in a file for me to paint and sketch. This is a great thing.
Better I take the photos myself anyways.
These photos were the art-ier ones that I kinda liked. Again, I have very little control of my damn camera so I make do with the tones that I would like and try to adjust shit to trick the camera into focusing on what I want it to.

"I saw the moon this week, but it has been a very long time since I really looked at it. The sky was that shade of blue which lends itself to the moon for daytime viewing, and the moon was a chalky detailed outline just hanging there as I walked in the woods with my students. This moon, however, wasn’t my moon anymore. The moon is Harold’s now, to do with as he will."
-David Nickel, my cousin in Iceland.

I used to read the letters my Uncle Harold would send my mom. One of my greatest memories of when I was younger. Since I was born into the world, my mom's side of the family taught me about nature and how they would relate to it and connect with it. This quote from David's blog, after the birth of his 13 day old son, made me feel like I belong again. It is important to be reminded of where I came from and what I have gained from these people. Thanks David.

more time at home.

usually i don't have time for this anymore.. but i'm going back to my roots so to speak.

This is what I did my first year of 'painting'. Water colors came first, then blood, then oil, then acrylic.
I still prefer blood and oil.

I haven't been sick in a while. I am so leaky and my throat feels like the desert.
Ugh.
So annoying.

I wish I could have gotten closer to some of the seeds I saw.

Migration of starlings.

I think about this cat at least once a week.

wood grain.

Sometimes to myself, i call my style of photography the oldschool asshole stylez.
One day I will be able to manipulate my photos through developping and through computer programs.. Also maybe one day I will have better equipment.
Until that day I will continue to do asshole photography.
For the people who care about what I take photos of, that's pretty cool.
I can't wait to be 28. oneish more days.
It's gonna be a good year.
Look forward to more artwork on this blog, it'll be coming up soon.
